Topic Overview:

Organisations such as the Australian Conservation Foundation are estimating that 11% of greenhouse pollution is from the consumption of construction and renovation products. With this in mind, it is increasingly more important that people consider building products that can significantly reduce their carbon footprint.

This timely seminar will cover the following topics:

  • Storage of carbon dioxide absorbed from the air in wood products
  • Thermal comfort and energy efficiency of lightweight buildings
  • Insulation of wooden floors
  • Case studies of the use of wood in zero carbon buildings in the UK
  • Where does our wood in Australia come from and how we can be sure it's well managed?
  • Which is better for the environment - recycled or new?
